About Us
Solidarity for Human Rights (Solidarity) is a non-governmental organization concerned with the human rights situation in Libya. Solidarity was established by a group of Libyan expatriates residing in Switzerland on December 10, 1999 in Geneva. Solidarity may have existed since its establishment in many international human rights conferences and symposia, as well as reports to the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Commission on Human Rights and its substantive mechanisms and the International Criminal Court.
Areas of activity:
- Defending human rights in Libya.
- Promote awareness of human rights in educational institutions.
- Conducting research and publishing reports and studies on human rights practices.
- Monitor human rights practices in Libya and issue press releases, urgent activities, reports, and work.
- Organizing training courses in human rights principles for both civil society and government institutions.
- Review legislation and submit proposals to amend or promulgate new legislation in line with international human rights practices in Libya.
- Participate in international conferences and meetings concerned with human rights, and cooperate with governmental and non-governmental organizations concerned with human rights.
